Woven by Toyota Announces Leadership Transition
TOKYO, Japan (June 1, 2026) — Woven by Toyota, Inc. (“WbyT”) today announced that Daisuke Toyoda, Senior Vice President and Head of Woven City Management, will transition from his current roles to a new position at Toyota Motor Corporation (“TMC”) effective August 1, 2026. A successor will be announced at a later date.
Toyoda was one of WbyT's founding members and played a central role in establishing the company and shaping its vision.
Within Toyota Woven City ("Woven City"), Toyoda worked closely with Weavers (residents and visitors to the city), Inventors and stakeholders across industries, while also participating firsthand in the project as a Weaver himself. From the earliest concept stage onward, he led the project through to the successful launch of Phase 1 and the start of co-creation activities in September last year. With this milestone achieved, Toyoda will carry the experience gained through the project into a new position.
Woven City continues to build on the progress made to date. In April, the Inventor Garage, an end-to-end development hub, began operations. Phase 2, currently under construction, also continues to move forward.
Through Kakezan*1-driven innovation, as well as deeper collaboration with companies across the Toyota Group and beyond, WbyT is driving Toyota’s transformation into a mobility company. The company remains committed to helping create new value for customers and society through its mobility technologies and initiatives.
Note*1: Kakezan, meaning “multiplication” in Japanese, is WbyT’s approach to creating solutions with greater impact for society by bringing together diverse strengths across industries.
